Your First Visit to Our Oceanside Practice

New practice members often remark how “homey” our practice is. That’s good, because our goal is to offer state-of-the-art chiropractic care in a comfortable surrounding.

The purpose of our initial consultation is so we can get to know each other, and to learn more about your specific health concerns and health goals.

We Listen

During a brief conversation and review of your health history, we try to determine if you’re a good candidate for chiropractic care. We’ll ask a few questions and do a lot of listening. Since ours is a partnership approach to better health, it’s important that you’re comfortable with the personalities, procedures and policies of our office. The consultation is a great way to find that out.

There is no charge for the initial consultation. We offer this so we can get to know one another and decide whether or not we can help you. If you are a good candidate for chiropractic care and we think chiropractic can help you the next step is a thorough examination. Our patients appreciate the fact that we explain everything in advance!

Examination

Examination procedures are geared toward detection and correction of the vertebral subluxation. Our examination consists of a thorough spinal and nervous system analysis which includes:

  • Palpation- Palpation essentially is checking your spine by hand. With this exam the doctor can feel areas of your spine that may be locked up or not moving correctly.

  • Posture Analysis- Posture is the window to health. A forward head carriage and uneven hips can cause early aging.

  • sEMG - Surface electromyography is an non-invasive instrument that locates subluxation patterns by measuring electrical activity in the muscles supporting the spine.

  • Thermography - Thermography is another non-invasive way of measuring tiny differences in skin temperature that can reveal nervous system disturbances.

  • Spinal x-rays, may be utilized depending on your age, and situation. There are many reasons why we would not recommend x-rays on certain patients including pregnancy, most children, recent usable spinal x-rays (within 1 year) and some other various situations. X-rays give us important information including; the position of the spinal bones, the quality of the spine and safety of adjusting it.  X-rays also tell us the relative length of time subluxations may have been involved in your spine. With this important information we can make a more accurate determination of the type of adjustments your spine needs as well as the ongoing frequency of your care.

These examination procedures help scientifically understand the subluxation process going on in your spine. It also gives us a baseline for future tests so we can accurately measure your progress to see how your spine is correcting and your nervous system is functioning. Using these examination procedures is much more accurate than just depending on "how you feel" on any given day.

Dr. Tocci Asks some important questions of interest to Oceanside residents - Chiropractor Oceanside Dr. Tocci Asks...

Are chiropractors just concerned with the spine?
Our interest in the spine is because it covers the major communications conduit between your brain and your body. As a Oceanside chiropractor my job is to locate areas (usually along the spine) that interfere with proper nerve communications to and from your brain. Chiropractic adjustments help restore nervous system integrity. In this way, chiropractic care can affect the function of your entire body.
Is average normal or is normal average?
Every chiropractor knows that so-called "normal" is merely an average. What's normal for you may not be normal for anyone else. So the chiropractic approach to better health is to tailor our approach to the unique needs of each of our Oceanside practice members.
